Album Info:
Brock's love of motorsports gained him national attention, fame, and a parade of followers. He was an avid supporter of and participant in a variety of motorsports and automotive hobbies, the annual Pike's Peak Hill Climb among his favourites. He was a familiar figure in Gasoline Alley at the Indianapolis 500, and he enthusiastically supported Bonneville speed trials and Land Speed Record attempts, NHRA drag racing, and virtually all other forms of motorsports, from go karts to NASCAR. In the ‘60s, Doug had two well-remembered pioneer funny cars: the “Chevy Too Much” altered wheelbase ’64 Nova and the ’67 Doug’s Headers Corvair that won the first Indy Nationals Funny Car Eliminator. By winning that important race with his supercharged Chevy powered AA/FC, he essentially ended the era of injected nitro funny cars. Within months, every significant team switched from injectors-only to the injector/blower combination.
