Album Info:

I got the part out, but it wasn't easy. The worm gear clamps screw up from the BOTTOM, but you can reinstall them from the top (very crowded in there). BMW Part No. 1 440 102, $14.95 from Bav Auto - 2 weeks on backorder.... Simple hand tools were all that was required for the job. cocktail anyone? As a temproary fix, some duct tape and wire ties will work, once you degreased the part with simple green. UPDATE: It has been nearly six months since this repair, and the dreaded E3 and E4 codes have yet to return. Now to fix the driver's side window regulator.....

  • UPDATE: After installing the new part ($14.90 from BavAuto) the E3 and E4 codes have not come back after more than a month in service. This is a fairly simple DIY repair, and the parts cost is minimal. Good Luck!
