Album Info:
Located inside the National Museum of Naval Aviation, The Cubi Bar Cafe has been reconstructed using the historic memorabilia from the Officers’ Club at Subic Bay, which was returned to the United States following America’s departure from the Subic Area. For 40 years of deployments, squadrons and other units customarily presented a plaque or emblem to the Officers’ Club as gestures of thanks and remembrance. The custom generated a local industry among Filipino woodcarvers, whose imaginations and expertise brought the endeavor to the level of fine art. The many plaques not only capture Naval Aviation history, but also the artistry and creativeness of Philippine culture. The luncheon menu and decor chronicles the many deployments to the Western Pacific by Navy and Marine Corps units.

Hi Ted, Thanks for showing this picture. I made 2 cruises aboard the USS Enterprise with my VF 2 squadron that flew tomcats. Many of these plaques were hauled out of Cubi Pt, Philippines after Mt Pinatubo accelerated closure of that base. This picture brings memories. Regards, Ding (San Diego)
