AFTER RESTO picture. (about 85% complete at this point. Photo taken end of July 2006) ======================================== =========================== I felt the need to find out if my "sense of pride and accomplishment" in building this truck was justified. Would others notice the "attention to detail" given and appreciate what we had done? So I needed some "validation" of both our works' worth and to see if others would appreciated the truck as I have learned to do so. So during the month of August 2006, I took my truck to compete in some Car Shows within roughly a 75 mile radius. =============================== ==================================== Car Shows Attended on Weekends of: ======================================== =========================== ==========..........07.29.06 - Big Daddy's.... - 2nd place in ALL TRUCKs division ..........======== ==========........ ..08.05.06 - ELK's..... - 2nd MODIFIED Truck + TOP 30 overall show ...======== ==========..........08.06.0 6 - HogFest...... - 1st 1959-64 class + TOP 25 overall show ...======== ==========..........08.19 .06 - RoseFest........ - 3rd place Stock Truck - 40 trucks..........======== ==========..........08.26.06 - Summer Spec - 3rd place STOCK Truck - 26trucks..........======== ======================================== =========================== Received a lot of comments, feedback, and shared stories. What I did learn is that others did appreciate what we had accomplished. HOWEVER, more than that, I had a greater appreciation for what other vehicle owners had accomplished on their vehicles. I must say that I became much more impressed with the results of others. I gained a much deeper respect for "restorers" and "builders" and the effort it takes to accomplish their project results. It truly is a labor of luv. ================================== =================================

  • lovestruck Tue Apr 10 2007, 05:42pm PT I've had so many of these types of trucks over the course of 10-15 years. Your truck is BEAUTIFUL!! I hope to do the same type of ground up restoration on mine someday as well. Great work and the documentation on the resto is VERY interesting to see! Keep up the truck, they're never really finished, and enjoy the trophies you are no doubt bringing home from shows:-) Take care, Daniel

  • Mon, 01 Jan 2007 12:09:00 Just a follow-up footnote on the The Summer Spectacular Car Show on 08.26.06. ========================= =================== Doug and Terry were the two key pros who did the resto on my truck. Doug's father Bob, (who taught Doug everything he knows) won BEST OF SHOW at this 600+ vehicle car show with his Chevy Chevelle. So that gives you a clue what kind of skill and talent worked on my truck. Of course, Bob gave us some advice on my truck during the resto mod process. ========================= ==================== ========================= ==================== At an earlier car show, (Big Daddy's) one of Bob's products, a fat fender Chevy truck street rod took third place in the ALL truck division, behind my second place truck. Doug and Terry were pretty proud. As far as I know this was the first time one of Doug and Terry's products ever placed ahead of one of Bob's products at a car show. Shirt buttons were sure a poppin'! ========================= ===================

  • Sun, 27 Aug 2006 18:11:16 The Summer Spec'ular Car Show on 08.26.06 was a 600+ total vehicle car show. Placing 3rd in my (STOCK) truck division was very satisfying as almost every vehicle could have been the top winner. Quality competition. Winner was a perfect 49 FORD again. My big drawback is that I have Bucket Seats & Console taken from a 1999 Tahoe which takes away from being totally STOCK. Thus judges have really marked me down because of that... and the wheels are not stock.
