  • You will need to use industrial sized parts. The flywheel housing is an SAE #2 size (an industrial and big truck standard). So, any transmission with an SAE #2 bell housing will bolt on, and the clutch can be easily figured out. If you want a small transmission (SM420 or SM465) you will have to do some searching for an SAE bell housing or adapter for it, if there is such a thing? But to get anything to last with that much torque you should stick with a heavy transmission that comes with a #2 housing already. How about a Spicer 3053a, it's 5 speed and overdrive, cheap, strong, and found in a deuce and a half with multi-fuel engine?? The 702 is not supposed to be a fast engine, less than 2,000 rpm is good for cruising, so you may need some very fast axle gears and or an OD transmission. Look for V6 headers, 351, and possibly slightly larger engines? I have no idea if anyone makes them, but if they do they will be for the V6 and not the 12, but will fit the 12 just the same. Good luck

  • Hello How do I mount a 4 speed to this engine. What bellhousing can be used. would a standard cast iron bellhousing from a 60s to 70s GM truck work? Headers... can or does someone make a set. even if it is two headers made for a 6 cylinder. Tight tuck headers would be preffered. very cool engine
