There is no 'model number' for this type of triple expansion steam engine. All that is known is that 34 pairs were ordered to be built by William Beardmore & Company, at Coatbridge in Scotland, for use by the Royal Navy in World War 1 Minesweepers. These were ordered probably around 1916. How many were actually produced is not known. All we know is that in 1922 one pair were sold as 'war surplus' and arrived at the Beach Avenue Shipyard of Arthur Moscrop's on the False Creek shore, in what is now the scenic location of Vancouver's Aquatic Center, near the north end of the Burrard Street Bridge false creek shoreline. This engine was then installed in the SS Master. Previous attempts to obtain info from the Admiralty & The Glasgow Museum have been fruitless thusfar. This company, it is believed, built ships, diesel engines, buses, trucks & London cabs, but disappeared many years ago. No one seems to have any of the company records.
