Rudy Frasca is the owner of this beautiful Spitfire Mark XVIII. It is powered by a Rolls-Royce Griffon engine, which is like a Merlin on steroids - the displacement of the Merlin is about 27 liters, and that of the Griffon is about 36 liters. Both are V-12s, but the bigger Griffon produced in excess of 2000 HP as compared to maybe 1300-1400 HP in the Merlin. The Griffon engine needed 'more propeller' to utilize the horsepower - making a bigger 4-bladed unit would not be the answer on a Spit -
