Not quite as glamorous or famous as other WWII Warbirds, the Harpoon is nevertheless an impressive aircraft. With its two BIG P&W R-2800s running all of their nearly 4,000 ponies at once, this big baby will do maybe 300 MPH. These big Lockheeds had a gang of .50 Cal. Browning Machine Guns mounted in the lower part of the nose, and as this example shows, air-to-surface rockets mounted underneath the wings. A load of internal bombs or a torpedo or two, made this an Axis ship's worse nightmare!
