Shows the wood dowel inserted into the splined female socket end of the alt shaft - used to keep the Lewis-Pin aligned with the hole in the engine case, so it has the most direct possible route to/out the oil drain plug hole when 'jerked' out of the split gears. Dowel technique pioneered by Jim Frens, STOC 1188.
