The California Railfair Exposition had a passenger excusrion trip featuring 4449 pulling a passenger train to Sacramento. We rode it effortlessly to Eugene, Ore., however the rest of the trip was plagued with problems. The first being that the tender had been fueled with the wrong grade fuel oil and by the time the train had reached Eugene, the oil had come up to temperature and had thinned out causing the engine to burn too rich, causing excessive smoke. We debarked the train and raced ahead
