I had a gorgeous blue and white 68 I bought in 75 upon joining the Navy. Gawd, that was a great car!It was "only" the 290, but drove better than a lot of supposedly hotter cars. I had to sell it about 7 years ago because I lost the place I was storing it, and figured it would be better off with someone who could appreciate it more than I could by then.(Two small boys and being a single Dad made it hard to take care of...) But I still miss that baby. What do you guys with 390s do, besides try to keep it on the ground? The 290 could still bury the speedometer! And I never met a Mustang who could take me, either. Hope you enjoy it as much as enjoyed mine. They are a rare treat!

Great site I like the detail you have given, with the photo's and comments of your restoration. A friend of mine's wife just bought a 1969 390 4 spd. go-pack AMX for him. His first car was a 69 390 4 spd. Hunter Green c/w Saddle interior AMX. The car was purchased in Pennsylvania, and is quite rust free and a great unit for a ground up like yours. I have been asked to help with the ground up and have done a lot of research on same. The idea is to do much of what you have done, with modifications to the drive train and suspension to make the car perform and handle much more like the newer exotic performance cars as one of his other cars is a 2000 360 Modena Ferrari. I have book marked your site and will be reviewing it from time to time for information etc. I will also be needing advise and parts information and trust will not mind sharing some details.

my brother and i fixed up a 69 way back in the late 70's when the amc dealer was still in business. it was hard finding parts even then. we stripped a 70 parts car of a few parts and sent it off to the wrecking yard. oh how i regret not keeping it !!
