NOTE: Replacing the valve cover gasket requires only simple hand tools - a metric socket set should suffice. Remarkably, BMWs rarely "require" special tools to repair. Special tools make some jobs easier, but are not required. See my cooling system overhaul page, for example. The fan removal tool makes the job quick, but a large adjustable wrench and a box end wrench will do the job as well.... Good Luck!
